What makes these Caramel Cinnamon Rolls so fluffy and soft?
Well, this caramel cinnamon roll recipe uses an enriched dough. What is an enriched dough? Well an enriched dough is dough, so flour-salt-yeast-water etc, that incorporates added fats. These fats add a buttery, rich, tender crumb to the bread, making it extremely soft and pulls apart easily. Some fats added in this recipe includes butter, eggs, milk, sugars. Another example of bread that has an enriched dough is brioche bread.
Cream Cheese Glaze Appreciation!
This recipe includes a cream cheese glaze which I think I have perfected. Starting off you cream together a mixture of fats, cream cheese and salted butter. A mixture of two different fats provides the glaze with enhanced flavour and texture. The cream cheese adds a perfect amount of zing that compliments our caramel sauce. Whereas the salted butter balances out the sweetness of the glaze. Then comes the addition of powdered sugar and milk, creating a fluid yet pipe-able glaze, perfect for our cinnamon rolls.
Do I have to make Caramel Sauce from scratch?
Caramel sauce can be quite tricky to make from scratch, so if your a beginner I probably wouldn’t recommend. Of course, store bough caramel sauce is perfect, just make sure you warm it up in the microwave or on the stove before pouring over your rolls.
Can you Freeze Cinnamon Rolls?
Yes you can! Unbaked cinnamon rolls before their last prove can last in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you want to eat one, let thaw in the fridge overnight and let place in a preheated 175ºC oven for about 35-40 mins.
